Cisco’s much-hyped new CRS-3 router, which it says it 12 times faster than any of its rivals’ products, will also halve power consumption, the vendor claims.
Unveiling the 322 Tbps router this week, Cisco said the CRS-3 would cut power consumption by up to 60% and would also offer savings in operational and capital cost.
The Cisco CRS-3 also provides investment protection for the nearly 5,000 Cisco CRS-1 deployed worldwide. Existing chassis, route processors, fans and power systems could be upgraded in-service through the addition of new line cards and fabric.
Cisco said the CRS-3 would enable “unified service delivery of internet and cloud services,”
The router, now in field trials, will be priced from $90,000.
