A group of Japanese electronics and telecom companies is looking to develop standards for networked home electronics and electric vehicles (EVs).
The partners in the Smart Network Project - NTT DoCoMo, NEC, Sekisui and Namco Bandai – say they hope to establish standards for future sustainable low-carbon societies based on the smart grid, networked appliances and EVs.
The Smart Network Project is backed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The trial will involve management of home solar power electricity that is stored in electric vehicles, using a communication network to transmit the power from the vehicles to homes.
The home network will monitor the house and appliances for CO2 emissions.
The tests will take place in Yokohama over four months starting in November.
