Fujitsu will begin trialing global cloud platform in key markets in May - part of a four-pronged strategy for offering cloud services.

The trials take place first in Japan, followed by Australia, Singapore, USA, the UK and Germany. Commercial deployment will start in October, Fujitsu said.

Customers would be offered “non-disruptive ways of joining any, some or all of the four modes of infrastructure, application, activity and content,” the Japanese firm announced Thursday

It already offers “infrastructure mode” cloud platforms on a regional basis, and these were being reinforced by a standardized global platform.

“Whether they adopt services from the local or global platform, customers will be able to reduce their ICT costs while being more flexible and responsive in their ICT provision and without sacrificing security and availability,” the company statement said.

It said the “activity” and “content” modes “represent a significant shift in the way the ICT industry creates value through the emergence of new business models to create new services for buyers.”

It also foreshadowed alliances with other cloud vendors, promising customers would not be locked into proprietary systems.

“We will deliver a standardized cloud service through the deployment of our global cloud platform,” said Richard Christou, a senior executive vice president.

“To address the other phases of our consumption model, we will be making further announcements, including in conjunction with our key partners, in the coming months.  Fujitsu is now in a position to work with customers to deliver the benefits of cloud.”
