Amazon Web Services has unveiled a new cloud service for high-performance computing (HPC) applications.

Alcatel-Lucent will supply a private WAN to Oklahoma utility OG&E as part of its smart grid implementation.

Echelon and Convergys will jointly collaborate on smart grid solutions to support next generation utility billing and customer energy management applications.

Cumulative global investment in smart grids will reach nearly $46 billion by 2015, according to ABI Research.
