Bell Labs, the University of Melbourne and the Victorian state government will jointly establish a research center devoted to energy efficient networks and technologies.
The Center for Energy-Efficient Telecommunications (CEET) will employ a team of 22 over the next three years, Alcatel-Lucent said.
The European Parliament has recommended putting mandatory speed limiters on vans and trucks to prevent them exceeding 120 km per hour and improve their fuel efficiency, Reuters reports.
