NEWSBRIEFS: NEC, Cisco, IBM, Telstra Foundation

NEC Corporation and the Australian government have agreed to jointly develop health, aged care and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions.

Cisco and Indian conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra have signed an MOU to collaborate on smart cities, virtual dealership, sports and entertainment, and cloud services.

US power utility Progress Energy has chosen IBM to be the lead systems integrator for its $520m smart grid program.

The Telstra Foundation will provide A$3m $2.95m) in grants to support social innovation in Australia over the next three years, primarily on projects that help young people experiencing social and geographical isolation.
