NEC last week announced the launch of its Cloud Platform Suite to support telco cloud services. The platform includes virtualized servers, data storage and networking equipment. It is scheduled to ship by the end of February.
 
Yvo de Boer will step down from his post as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in July.  He has been the UN's top climate official since 2006.
 
Brocade has launched a new set of switches – the FCX series of 10/100/1000 Mbps with 10 GbE uplink – that can support highly virtualized data centers.
 
China’s coal imports doubled in 2009 to become a net importer of its most important fuel for the first time. It imported 130 million tonnes of coal in 2009, while coal exports fell 51%.
